The worlds of fashion and technology colliding is becoming increasingly familiar, and this past Thursday at Royal/T in Culver City, it was quite evident. The perfect blend of celebrities, fashion influencers, tech journalists, and geeks alike came out to a private event launching Disney’s TRON: Legacy Pop-Up Shop. In preparation of “TRON: Legacy” (which hits theaters December 17), Disney has created a one-of-a-kind shop at this unique Japanese café and art space. Giving much credit to the creative minds at Larry Abel Designs, walking into Royal/T you felt as though you have left Los Angeles completely, and entered the world of Tron. Never before, however, would one associate the gaming world with Jarome C. Rosseau 4” stilettos, and Hayden-Harnett black leather accessories.

According to the release, “Our TRON: Legacy line offers a wide range of items for all —whether you’re a die-hard fan or just an avid fan of design, imagination, as well as technology,” said Pam Lifford, executive Vice President of Fashion and Home, Disney Consumer Products. “We’ve had great response from fans on the line overall and the TRON Pop-Up Shop is a special way to bring it all together for them while spotlighting one-of-a-kind pieces they can’t find anywhere else.”

Male “Tronnies” are not left behind. TRON: Legacy Adidas sneakers, Burton snowboard boots, and Oakley sunglasses are also some of the exclusive items available at Royal/T.
“I’ve always been a huge TRON fan since the original came out,” says Greg Dacyshyn, Chief Creative Officer of Burton Snowboards. “Working with Disney on the design of this boot was definitely a cool experience because the visual style, holograms and high-tech look of TRON really translated well into our snowboard boot design. The Raptor style is a sick new boot, and the TRON version brings it to the next level. Can’t wait to see these boots on the mountain, and of course we’re all amped to see the new flick.”
The geek, and chic, shall inherit the earth.
